Modern Room Dividers Biography.

   Where did the folding room divider first originate?  The history of folding room dividers go back to China in the 7th century.  Room dividers were heavy and ornate and were mainly used by royalty.  These original room dividers were not easily moved and remained in one place.
Around a century later, room dividers were adopted by the Japanese.  The Japanese used a lighter more portable screen divider.  Using screens for tea ceremonies, religious events and outdoor processions, the Japanese were able to optimize their uses of their folding portable screens.
